The last video is actually compelling evidence for expanding and supporting a private non-profit approach to helping the needy. There is no way the government could have made that happen with our tax dollars (see 4:40ish in the video). The government just cannot replicate the efficiency of non-profit that is driven by volunteers.
that’s an interesting point Steve. It would be great if there was enough money and volunteers willing to do such things. And I think the bigger picture is that the goal is for private health insurance reform. The public option is just a tiny portion that will serve a few purposes. If we can get the private companies to behave a bit more like private non-profits, we may be on the right track to some meaningful reform, right?
